The dishwasher's cheaper but.... I've been doing the dishes by hand for this long and I could always get one of those padded rugs to stand on in front of the sink :-) The lens it is!

I just wanted to share how excited I am that I actually got my blog design to reflect my style. This has been no easy feat for me. I'm sure some of you have noticed how many times my blog template has changed over the last few weeks. It's not because I like to change it every other day...or that I have hours of free time on my hands...it's because I am html challenged and I have been trying everything under the sun to figure out how to do this on my own (I'm stubborn that way), and Yay....I finally got it!!

I wanted it to reflect my photography style as well as my personal style. A little artsy, a little elegant, and a little vintage.

Through my playgroup I had the pleasure of making a new friend and meeting her 3 week old baby girl. Being a mom of a three year old, you forget how sweet and tiny they are at this age. She hardly slept at all while I was there and was so aware and curious of everything going on around her. We all had a good laugh because she did NOT like being naked, so some of those images were definitely a challenge!

I'm finally sitting down to post a sneak peek from a session I did last weekend. I am trying to keep up with my blog as much as possible which has turned out to be harder than I thought due to the amount of sessions I have had lately. I'm not complaining though. I'm blessed. So I have to say that last Saturday's session was not only fun, but if I didn't know better I would have thought they did print advertising for a living. Their smiles could light up a room. I once read this and I thought it was so funny and I'm sure many people can probably relate to this. Professional photography is something that many people put off so below are the signs that IT IS TIME!

-The family photo in your living room is missing at least one kid.

-The groom in your wedding photo isn't even your current husband.

-The braces are finally off!

-The last professional photo of your children was taken with Santa Clause.

-The hairstyle you're wearing in your last picture is back in style.

-The newborn you're holding in the last family photo is graduating from high school this year.

-People ask who the person was with all that hair and it's you! (see photo)

-The glasses you are wearing are older than your first child.

-You're constantly apologizing for your holiday card photo-"really, the kids are much better looking in person!"

-Your hair is an entirely different color.

-The only picture with you in it is the blurry one your spouse took. Needless to say, there's a reason why your the family photographer!

Yay! I just wanted to share my excitment with everyone. I won the September 2009 One Talent Source photo contest for the 18 and up category! The winning photo was from a senior session I did with Jessica Stanfield. She was an excellent model and was so great to work with. I was so pleased with the images from her session that I wanted to enter one in this contest and will probably enter more from that session since they turned out so great. Here is the winning Photo. Lily's first....well second...real haircut - The Woodlands Tx Family Photographer

My daughter Lily went for her second "real" hair cut last weekend (not just me cutting her bangs lopsided). I wanted to document her first hair cut but believe it or not, I forgot my camera! Well this time I planned better and brought my gear so my baby can look back one day and enjoy her second hair cut shots.

This was the first time they actually gave her a shampoo and not just used the spray water bottle. She was a little scared but if you look in her right hand you will see her baby dinosaur that she named Zero that was there to comfort her.

I love this picture of aunt Annie and Lily. Lily looks like she has no idea what we are doing to her.

I obviously found this whole process more interesting than she did. I thought she was going to fall asleep right there in the chair.

Before we left I had to get Annie to take a picture of me and Lily. Being the photographer means that everyone around me is well documented and I have NO pictures of me and my own family. I guess I need to hire a photographer!

Here are the sneak peek kid's session photos I promised. These are from a session I did with Colin and Maddie. It's actually the second session I have done with these sweethearts and I enjoyed everything about it......well, except the heat! They did great though!

She is such a beauty....look at those eyes!

One of the things I love about children's sessions is just letting them run and play and me being more a spectator so I can catch them as they really are.....just being kids.

I guess like with golf or many other sports I can think of, you know how the shots going to be the second you hit the ball. As a photographer many times I can tell how good the image is going to be the second I release the shutter. This was one of those images. I just knew I would love it when I looked back at it.....and I do.

This image is very fitting of her. She definitely is an angel.

I spent a lot of time chasing Maddie. Everytime I tried to get in front of her she would turn and take off. Definitely a future track star!

I love this image. She looks so surreal.

Both the kids were having so much fun playing on this fence so I was able to get some good shots of them by just letting them play.

This tree was just calling Colin's name. I new he would look so cute....oh sorry, I mean "cool" up in this tree. I've got to get with the guy lingo. Sometimes it hard because I have a little girl so everything is precious or cute or adorable. I forgot, boys don't like that.

I know I'm posting alot for a "sneak peek" but I liked so many photos from this session. It was hard to choose just a few.

I love this picture of Colin. It is such a "guy" picture. It was at the very end of the session and he was hot and sweaty and had sap all over his hands from the tree he was standing on. He was not happy about that sap and it shows in his face. I love it!

My sister Amanda and my nephew Hagen came in last weekend to visit from Colorado. I was so excited to get to see them since I don't get to very often. Also, the last time Lily saw Hagen he was not walking yet so they were not able to play very much but this time was a whole different story.

During the end of the Senior Session it starting raining (pouring actually). My daughter went crazy for the rain. While I already had my camera in hand I thought I would snap off a few pictures of her playing. I don't know who was having more fun....her playing in the rain or me watching her!

Holly Hobby hats revisited : Senior Portraits

While doing some senior portraits for Jess and Kay, they asked if they could have some photos taken for their grandmother wearing the same Holly Hobby style hats they wore when they were kids. I had a session last Saturday with my long time friend Niclole and her beautiful daughter and niece, Jessica and Kaylyn. You may remember these girls from the "Learning to Fly" gallery on my website. They have been so much fun to work with while shooting their Senior portraits and both photograph so beautifully. I have known these girls since they were 7 and 8 and am so proud of the ladies they have become.
